How Far Did I Run?

How far did I run?

Tap the route you ran on the map above — your start, each turn, then your finish. The tool adds up the distance between the points as you go, so the running total is how far you ran, shown in miles and kilometers. Pick Run, Walk, or Cycle (or type your own pace) and it estimates the time too.

By default the route snaps to the paths and roads between the points you tap, so the distance follows where you actually ran. Add points to guide it around turns — or switch off Snap for a straight-line “as the crow flies” measure.

How to measure how far you ran

  1. Tap your start (or use Start at my location).
  2. Tap each corner and turn along the way, then your finish.
  3. Drag any point to nudge it onto the real path; tap Undo point to remove the last one.
  4. Read the total distance, and set a pace for the time.

How far did I walk?

Exactly the same route measures the same distance whether you ran or walked it — only the time changes. Trace your walk and choose Walk (about 20 minutes per mile, a 3 mph pace) to see roughly how long it took.

How far did I cycle?

Same idea for a ride: trace the route and pick Cycle (about 4 minutes per mile, a 15 mph pace). For a faster or slower ride, switch to Custom and enter your own minutes-per-mile.

Route distance calculator

This is a multi-point route distance calculator — it measures a path with as many turns as you like. By default it snaps your route to the walkable/runnable paths (or cycleways) between the points you tap, so the total follows the real streets and trails; add points to guide it, or turn off Snap for a straight-line total.

Just measuring between two exact points instead of a route? The distance calculator is built for A-to-B, with both straight-line and road distance. To turn a distance into a time at a set pace, see miles to minutes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I figure out how far I ran without a watch?
Retrace your route on the map: tap your start, then tap each turn and your finish. The tool snaps the route to the paths and roads between your points and adds up the distance as you go, so the total is the length of the route you actually ran. Drag any point to fix it if you tapped slightly off, or switch off Snap for a straight-line measure.
How far did I walk or cycle?
The same way — trace the route you took. The distance is identical whether you ran, walked, or cycled it; only the time differs. Pick Walk (about 20 minutes per mile) or Cycle (about 4 minutes per mile) to estimate the time, or enter your own pace.
Is this the same as my GPS or watch distance?
Close, but not identical. A GPS watch samples your exact path continuously; here you tap the key points and the tool snaps between them to the actual paths and roads, so a handful of points usually lands within a few percent. Add points where the route could go more than one way so it picks the streets you took.
How accurate is tracing a route on a map?
Good — the route snaps to the real walking/running paths (or cycleways) between the points you tap, using the same open routing engine as the drive-time tool, so it follows the streets rather than cutting corners. If a snap ever fails (the free routing server is momentarily unavailable) it falls back to a straight line for that trace and tells you. You can also switch Snap off any time for a deliberate straight-line measure.
Can I measure the route in kilometers?
Yes — the distance shows in both miles and kilometers at once, so you can read whichever you need.
